Aurora
Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and often stylized with the letters in uppercase as AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released through the record label Decca Records in May 2015 and received a lot of praise by music journalists and media. The singer has recorded two highly-profile cover songs Half the World Away by the group Oasis to promote a Christmas ad by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry, who endorsed the track Runaway from her side, also gave it some more recognition. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding a piano in her attic and being fascinated by the sounds it would produce. The parents of her May-Britt family along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to take up music not as a profession or a pastime, but as a way to develop. Her parents inspired her to write. Alongside Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. Her mother had informed her that her music could not only help her achieve fame but also make others see their value within the global community and see the possibilities for them and her music, she was inspired to start playing in front of the public. Piano was her first instrument, at six, and she started creating music after turning nine. Family members didn't even have any idea about it until she turned 14. It was never a dream to become Aurora. She says she just likes writing songs. Music to her is the best way to feel anything.
